CONNECTIONS


Northeast Wisconsin is blessed with a wide array of community-based activities of interest and value to homeschoolers. In fact, there are so many opportunities that we've created a unique calendar for each county in the area, as well as one for activities planned and sponsored by The Homeschool Loft and another for relevant events in other parts of the state and region. A FEW NOTES ABOUT THE LISTINGS
  • Because Wisconsin's compulsory school attendance law commences at Age 6 - i.e., homeschoolers must begin to file the annual PI-1206 form when a child turns six (by September 1) - our calendars generally list activities available for Age 6+. Of course, many of the organizations on our Master List also offer events for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, but that is not our focus;
  • While we list many activities sponsored by area LIBRARIES, we have not included storytime programming, for two reasons: First, some libraries have so many weekly storytime options that listing them all would be time-prohibitive for us. Secondly, most storytimes are designed for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, which is not our target audience. We do, however, encourage you to visit library websites (all of which are linked on our Master List, above) if you are seeking storytime opportunities;
  • In addition to everything we have listed, be sure to check out offerings by the PARK & RECREATION DEPARTMENT in your town/village/city. Though it's currently time-prohibitive for us to list such activities on our calendars, we may do so in the future. In the meantime, though, these departments typically offer a wide range of reasonably-priced activities for town/village/city residents, and are worth exploring.
